About the Ed-Fi Technical Congress

Travel Update March 16

Technical Congress is Canceled

The annual Technical Congress is one of the most important initiatives for the Ed-Fi Alliance. It is our way of bringing together a dedicated audience to not only set our technical priorities and gather valuable input from the Community, but to exchange ideas and learn from one another.
As much as we care about Ed-Fi’s technical priorities and learning, we care more deeply about your well-being, and that of our speakers, community contributors and team members. That said, due to the escalating health concerns related to the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), and with input from our Governance Advisory Team, we have decided to cancel the Technical Congress 2020 scheduled to take place in San Diego, CA from April 20 – 23, 2020.

As you know, we utilize the Technical Congress to drive input and decision-making on issues important to our Community and we can’t afford to halt that work, we must keep moving forward and driving toward progress.  We are looking for ways to move the top priorities for this work online and in virtual forums. Please stay tuned for details on how you can participate.

If you have comments and thoughts on what you feel are the top priorities and would like to share them with us, please reach out. For now, the published detailed agenda is posted here and can be used as a discussion guide as we determine the most effective way to identify and address your technical priorities.

If you have already registered for the Technical Congress your registration fee will be refunded in the same form of payment. Please allow us a few days to process these refunds.  However, you will need to cancel your hotel reservation separately, either through the online portal or by calling +1866-837-4270.

Thank you for your flexibility at this time and for your unwavering support for Ed-Fi’s mission.
Please reach out to me or any member of the Ed-Fi team if you have additional questions:

The Technical Congress is our annual event for technologists, developers, and Ed-Fi implementers who want to take a deep dive into the technical details of the Ed-Fi Data Standard and technologies. Join us for two days of in-depth sessions and community-led discussion on our thorniest topics. Be prepared to help problem solve and shape the future of Ed-Fi!

The Tech Congress is where we talk strategy, get technical, and solicit feedback from you, our community. We’ll be making some big announcements at this year’s event and covering the topics we know are most important to you.

This event is for you if:

  • You’re a developer
  • You’re a technical lead for your organization
  • You’re a data analyst or DBA
  • You’re a project manager or product person responsible for implementing Ed-Fi technology at your organization
  • You attended the Ed-Fi Summit and wanted more detail
  • You enjoy digging into the technology weeds and geeking out
  • You want to help prioritize technical projects for the Ed-Fi Roadmap

Registration Fees

  • Education Agencies Rate: $350
  • Vendor Rate: $500

Monica Hogan networking with fellow Ed-Fi conference attendees “We are reaching a phase of our Ed-Fi implementation where we have to make critical decisions. While none of these questions have a simple answer, attending the Tech Congress gave our team the opportunity to access Ed-Fi’s greatest asset in the pursuit of answers: the community.

The Tech Congress ended with the Tech Town Hall—an opportunity for members of the community to advocate for changes they’d like to see before each organization voted. This process speaks to Ed-Fi’s democratic, community-driven nature, and illustrates the importance of diverse participation.”

-Monica Hogan, Director of Analytics, Boston Public Schools
