In Austin, the self-proclaimed Live Music Capitol of the World, you can catch your favorite local band or an up-and-coming artist on any given night of the week. Whether you’re into rock, country, folk, or reggae, there’s something for everyone here. For those of you planning to extend your stay in Austin and will be coming into town early for the 2017 Ed-Fi Summit & Technical Bootcamp or sticking around after, you’ll find an endless amount of entertainment that extends beyond our conference walls. Keep reading for a few recommendations to get your fun started.

Austin City Limits

If you’re going to stay in town after the Summit, don’t wait to grab tickets to the Austin City Limits, a live music festival that started back in the ‘70s and helped bring national attention to Austin’s music scene, earning its title of the Live Music Capitol of World. The festival is still going strong, with an impressive lineup this year featuring headliners you don’t want to miss like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, and more.

Sixth Street

Downtown’s Sixth Street Entertainment District boasts nine blocks lined with some of Austin’s coolest live music and performance venues. To escape the chaos, pop into Parish, inconspicuously located just above the VooDoo Doughnut storefront. Make sure to book in advance since shows often sell out. And, if you’re craving some last night eats, not to worry. There’s dozens of hip restaurants, cafes and food trucks to fulfill all of your heart’s desires. Don’t expect to find a run-of-the-mill crowd on Sixth Street; it’s the eclectic mix that keeps Austin weird.

Warehouse District

If you’re looking for more glitz and less grunge, make your way to the Warehouse District, home to Austin’s local music scene. Here you’ll find a cluster of music spots, one of our favorites being the Cedar Street Courtyard, a quiet, tucked-away patio with live jazz performances seven days a week.

No trip to Austin is complete without a healthy dose of live music and some tasty bites. If you haven’t already, make sure to take advantage of our early bird special and save $100 by registering for the Summit by August 15. With this year’s Summit coinciding with Austin City Limits, hotel accommodations will book quickly throughout the city and we don’t want you to miss out. Come join us and get your groove on!
