About
Troy serves as the President of the Ed-Fi Alliance where he spearheads the adoption of data-driven education at scale. Troy began his work with Ed-Fi in 2012 as the Vice President of Strategic Market Development, helping to evolve Ed-Fi from a nascent project to a widely-known standards and ed-tech organization. Under Troy’s leadership, the Ed-Fi Data Standard has been adopted by 28 states and powers data interoperability for more than two thousand school districts. Troy joined Ed-Fi after five years serving as the Chief Information Officer for the Idaho Department of Education, where he was responsible for Idaho’s state education data management systems, including a $21M public-private partnership to implement statewide teacher data tools for personalized instruction. Troy started his career in technology in the late 80s as a Sales Engineer for IBM serving the K12 and healthcare sectors, before leaving to co-found two tech start-ups. He lives in Lakeway, Texas with his wife and two teenagers, is a sports car and racing enthusiast, and when he’s not traveling extensively for Ed-Fi, Troy enjoys working on his vintage VW bus.
