Answer the Call for Interoperability

More and more school districts and state agencies are requiring technology systems to be interoperable. Meet this demand as a certified Ed-Fi Partner.

Raise the Value of Your Data

When your technology works together with other systems to provide richer, more comprehensive student insights, its value to a school district gets an immediate boost.

Reduce Custom Integration Requests

With Ed-Fi’s Data Standard and APIs, you can deploy your products faster, replicate solutions at scale, and minimize unique integrations.

The Data Problems We Solve: Collection, Integration, Interface

Ed-Fi allows for uniform data collection, enables multiple system integrations, and promotes the use of district- and agency-owned interfaces. Through the Ed-Fi API and operational data store (ODS), we help state, local and higher education agencies collect and centralize data – and achieve their larger data vision.

Ed-Fi API

Offers a developer-friendly interface to create, read, and update data stored in any system, including the Ed-Fi ODS.

Ed-Fi ODS

Allows school districts to store information from multiple systems in a central location.

Ed-Fi Data Standard

Enables users to uniformly collect, manage, and organize data so multiple systems can seamlessly share information.

Education Agencies Trust Ed-Fi

  • School Districts will either install open-source Ed-Fi ODS/API software on their own network or work with an Ed-Fi managed provider to host the software for them. In some cases, Collaboratives – organizations that provide services to a group of districts on their own networks or via cloud – will also offer the Ed-Fi ODS/API software as part of their services.

  • State Education Agencies install the Ed-Fi ODS/API software on their own servers and in their own data center, or utilize public cloud services (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud). Most common use case: State reporting.

Send, Retrieve, Manage: How Vendors Use Ed-Fi

Ultimately, vendors will get one of three fundamental data requests from a state or district: to send, retrieve, or manage data – it’s as simple as that.

Sending Data

Districts or states may approach your company to send the data they need from your system to their installation of the Ed-Fi ODS/API. To that end, ensuring the data you’re sending is interoperable with your customer’s data is crucial for success - for both organizations.

Retrieving Data

Data from multiple sources are often sent to a district or state’s Ed-Fi ODS/API installation. In order for this disparate data to be unified, useful, and utilized, your customers may ask you to retrieve data from their installation to ensure it can be used to its maximum potential and value.

Managing Data

If you already offer Ed-Fi interoperability as a solution, you may be asked to manage both the incoming and outgoing data within a customer’s infrastructure, helping to build, maintain, and update it on an on-going basis.
