This week’s blog – the second in our series on Lubbock ISD’s trail-blazing implementation of Ed-Fi-powered dashboards – gives you an up close look at the turn-around of Atkins Middle School. In 2011, Atkins Middle School was rated “Unacceptable” in the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) accountability ratings. And, as its assistant principal told us, “there were some things that were broken.” Armed with Ed-Fi-powered studentGPS dashboards, the campus courageously tackled those broken processes and spirits to become what Principal Chris Huber now calls “the quality instruction campus.”

For the 2012-2013 academic year, Atkins Middle School was recognized by TEA for growth in student performance on Texas’ state-wide academic tests. Find out how data-driven education contributed to this school turn-around in the video below.

The Ed-Fi solution seeks to make this kind of difference for millions of kids…one teacher, one class, one child at a time. The story of Atkins’ dedicated educators inspires and motivates us to make this possible for all teachers and students across the U.S. Access to accurate and timely data gave educators at Atkins Middle School more time to focus on the quality and effectiveness of instruction, leading to improved student growth. Let us know how data-driven education is improving student achievement on your campus.
