Nonprofit Ed-Fi Alliance now offers online professional development courses for educators taking the guess work out of interoperability

November 16, 2021 – AUSTIN, Texas – The Ed-Fi Alliance, a nonprofit organization and community of educators, technologists, and advocates solving the data challenge in education today announced the launch of the Ed-Fi Academy, a comprehensive set of online, on-demand training courses designed to meet users where they are in their data standard implementation journey with detailed guidance, regardless of their level of data competency or experience.

“The Academy’s curriculum is purpose-built for K12 professionals and educators at any level of technical expertise, covering the adoption and deployment of the Ed-Fi data standard and walking users through the complete process of a data standard adoption to arrive at a system of seamless integration,” said Silvia Brunet-Jones, technical program director, K12 education, Ed-Fi Alliance.

The Ed-Fi Academy illuminates the path to an effective and easy-to-deploy data standard with bite-sized, on-demand training that puts the tools into the hands of the staff who will be responsible for deploying Ed-Fi and modernizing IT infrastructure.

This is the professional development opportunity that K12 leaders need but currently lack to ensure schools can keep pace with the changing education technology landscape. As ed-tech offerings advance, the need for data-driven insight from these tools advances alongside them. Tech-savvy schools and administrators are becoming a must rather than a nice to have, especially as schools depend more heavily on data to guide decision-making. Education like this opens the door to upskilling opportunities, which will help train up the next generation of professionals responsible for education innovation to improve student outcomes.

“At Ed-Fi, we’re committed to ensuring that educators everywhere have the data and tools they need for a holistic view of each student’s unique areas of success and areas for improvement,” said Brunet-Jones. “Whether you’re new to Ed-Fi or a veteran to the world of data standards, the Academy offers a learning opportunity for everyone.”

About the Ed-Fi Alliance

The Ed-Fi Alliance is a nationwide community of leading educators, technologists, and data advocates connecting student data systems to transform education. A not-for-profit organization founded in 2012, by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, Ed-Fi aims to boost student achievement by empowering educators with real-time, comprehensive insight into every student. Ed-Fi technologies streamline data management in school districts and states across the country. By allowing schools to integrate data previously siloed within disconnected tools and software—and organizing it through a single, secure data standard —Ed-Fi solves one of the country’s most perplexing educational challenges: how to get a complete, accurate view of individual student achievement so that every student can receive the support they need when they need it most.
