October 1, 2021– AUSTIN, Texas – The Ed-Fi Alliance, a nonprofit organization and community of educators, technologists, and advocates solving the data challenge in education today announced award-winning superintendent, leader, and innovator Dr. Darryl Adams as the keynote speaker of Summit 2021, its premier annual user conference.

Dr. Adams is an internationally known administrator, technology leader, and evangelist, named by President Barack Obama as one of the Top 100 Innovative Superintendents in the Nation. Dr. Adams is an advocate for technology and connectivity in schools, and in 2014 received recognition from President Obama as the Creator of the Wifi-on-Wheels Initiative, the first in the nation to put routers on school buses, effectively keeping students connected to and from school. Dr. Adams went on to have the buses parked overnight in neighborhoods and trailer homes parks where there was no connectivity allowing students and families to connect to the Internet.

“I look forward to speaking at Ed-Fi’s Summit conference this year to connect with like-minded education leaders to discuss ways that we can ensure that students across the country have access to the digital tools and connectivity they need to learn and prosper in our digital age,” said Adams.

The Ed-Fi Summit is a three-day collaborative conference taking place November 16–18 in-person at the Hyatt Regency in Austin, Texas, or online with virtual access. The event is hosted by the Ed-Fi Community and brings together education agencies and ed-tech providers leveraging data for improved learning outcomes for students.

“We’re excited to welcome Dr. Adams as our keynote speaker for Summit 2021 as a pioneer in the education technology space and a voice for learners everywhere,” said Caroline Kazmierski, director, marketing and communications, Ed-Fi Alliance. “Dr. Adams’ innovative approach, leadership and collaboration within the education community gives him unique insight into what’s working and areas needing additional focus, especially as we examine the effective use of data to solve our nation’s most pressing education challenges.”

Participants can expect Ed-Fi implementation success stories, technical demonstrations, peer-to-peer learning, and opportunities to foster and strengthen the growth of the Ed-Fi Technology Suite. This year, the event also debuts the Ed-Fi Academy, which will provide much needed professional development and upskilling opportunities to the education IT sector.

“Ed-Fi is committed to providing educators with secure, real-time data to address ongoing challenges including chronic absenteeism and resource allocation,” said Kazmierski. “Our Summit conference brings together the Ed-Fi Community to discuss best practices and opportunities, and we’ve taken every precaution to ensure a safe gathering. Whether you’re new to Ed-Fi or a veteran user, we have a place for you.”

About the Ed-Fi Alliance

The Ed-Fi Alliance is a nationwide community of leading educators, technologists, and data advocates connecting student data systems in order to transform education. A not-for-profit organization founded in 2012, by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, Ed-Fi aims to boost student achievement by empowering educators with real-time, comprehensive insight into every student.

Ed-Fi technologies streamline data management in school districts and states across the country. By allowing schools to integrate data previously siloed within disconnected tools and software—and organizing it through a single, secure data standard —Ed-Fi solves one of the country’s most perplexing educational challenges: how to get a complete, accurate view of individual student achievement, so that every student can receive the support they need when they need it most.
