In our shared pursuit of nationwide student data interoperability, Ed-Fi is honored to form strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations. Here, we highlight a few of these key relationships that are transforming the landscape of education data security and usage.
Local Education Partners
Project Unicorn is a nationwide effort to improve K-12 education through data interoperability. By forming a community of innovators, Project Unicorn helps determine shared priorities, create working partnerships, and educate buyers about the total cost of data interoperability by comparing vendors.
By signing the Project Unicorn Pledge, both school districts and ed-tech vendors express their commitment to providing secure access to student data, educating practitioners about privacy, promoting equity, and ensuring fiscal responsibility.

CoSN – Consortium for School Networking
CoSN is the leading professional association for school system technology leaders—and a natural partner for Ed-Fi’s mission to help every school district achieve full data interoperability.
Ed-Fi speaks at CoSN conferences and clinics year-round, while also welcoming CoSN members to our events—including the Ed-Fi Summit and Tech Congress. Ed-Fi and CoSN partnered to conduct the 2019 IT Leadership Survey.
Digital Promise – League of Innovative Schools
Digital Promise works at the intersection of education leaders, researchers, and technology developers to improve learning for all and close the Digital Learning Gap.
As part of Digital Promise, the League of Innovative Schools are exceptional school districts from across the U.S. who are pioneering practices that improve outcomes for students. Many of these districts are prioritizing data interoperability as a means to student success.

Data Quality Campaign (DQC)
DQC strives to ensure that everyone with a stake in education—especially families and educators—can access and use quality student data to raise achievement for all students. They’re advocating for effective data use in our school systems.
DQC’s priorities are right in line with Ed-Fi’s, and we partner to ensure Ed-Fi’s free offerings support student data best practices.

State Education Partners
Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO)
CCSSO is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization of public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the U.S. Ed-Fi and CCSSO partner through events and other programming because we share a commitment to educational equity, and believe data is the key to supporting every student and educator.
State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA)
SETDA and Ed-Fi partner to support state education agencies. Because, as SETDA puts it on their website, “Aggregate data accumulated over years and from multiple sources can divulge trends and point the way to success for particular groups of students and/or for program evaluation.”
SETDA and Ed-Fi have a strong presence at each other’s events year round, working closely with states to make interoperability a reality.
Common Education Data Standards (CEDS)
CEDS is an initiative of the US Department of Education. Ed-Fi partners with CEDS on initiatives to support interoperability and seamless, accurate reporting at the state level, including our Generate Plugin.
CEDS offers free resources to help states achieve data interoperability and effective data governance.
We work closely with regional collaboratives, including those listed below. These groups are deeply committed to Ed-Fi’s mission. They’re leading the way in their respective areas, and working together through the Ed-Fi Community to share best practices, advancing how educators and students are supported nationwide.
